This is one of those weeks where we wish we could go outside in our PJs and duvet. While that might not be socially acceptable, Fearne Cotton just introduced us to the next best thing that we wish we were wearing right now. Fearne shows you don’t have to save skiwear for the slopes, as she is wearing a beautiful but cosy merino wool jumpsuit by ski brand Perfect Moment. Instead of a sloppy, baggy onesie that is only suitable for the sofa, this is fitted so it can be worn out of the house too. Fearne styled hers with a pair of rose-gold sunglasses and Vans high-tops.

No one wants to purposefully put themselves into that awkward same-dress situation at a party, but when our inside sources at ASOS tell us a few key items are currently selling by the truckload for the festive season, it’s wise to pay attention. From our analysis, it appears that the style hoards are all just as keen as we are to step away from the obvious party-dressing rules and regulations and inject a little personality, newness and fun into the proceedings. This doesn’t mean you can’t rely on the classic formula of an LBD and heels, but the party-wear scene has opened up and is more varied than ever. So why not make the most of a good thing?

From the accessories that have 2017 written into their DNA through to the layering technique that instantly puts party frocks into the present day, we’ve delved into the e-commerce giant’s stats to guide you through their offerings. The twists and tweaks you can apply to your after-dark wardrobe means no two outfits will ever be a carbon copy—even if you do end up buying the same slip as your best friend. We all know that working out how to shop on ASOS when you’re time-poor and distracted by a thousand-and-one other things can be tricky, so consider this a fast track to your festive look.

1. knee-high party boots

Style Notes: Party shoes are all well and good, but party boots? Well that’s a very clever idea indeed. A neat way to keep warm and make a bold statement at the same time, is it any wonder that festive knee-highs (think metallic leather, sequins and embroidery) are being bought by the coolest girls?

2. silver anything and everything

Jeanette Friis Madsen (far left) and our editorial director have both snapped up the silver sequin ASOS Edition Drop Waist All Over Sequin Midi Dress (£150) that’s going great guns on the site right now. Sparkle this season really does revolve around silver tones, so if you invest in one item for the party season, make it something in this metal.

3. party power sleeves

For girls who like their hemlines high and their statements loud, these bold-sleeved cocktail dresses are proving to be very popular—with the ASOS Edition Cocktail Mini Dress (£65) being the leader of the ’80s-inspired pack.

4. statement suits

ASOS’s insider, Debbie Shasanya, picked out this striped suit first, pairing it with mismatched boots and some statement earrings—the perfect work-to-cocktails combination, don’t you think? Plenty of other girls agree, with many swapping dresses this Christmas in favour of two-piece tailored get-ups.

5. zebra prints

Forget florals, leave leopard print for a second and focus your attentions on another print that’s flying out of stores right now: zebra. We all know monochrome works easily with most of what you wear, but there are more colourful zebra-print pieces making tills ring too. Add a red coat—like this ASOS Balloon Sleeve Coat (£110)—to a zebra dress and hear the compliments roll in.

In the past few years, no one’s style has garnered quite as much attention as Kendall Jenner’s. The model has pioneered major trends from athleisure to naked dressing and everything in between. She’s changed up her looks (and stylists), but no matter what she’s in, Kendall is in command of the trends. And while she may have once been known as a younger sibling to her Kardashian sisters, she’s carved a niche for herself that’s led to turns down the runways of top design houses from Balmain to Chanel.

Kendall Jenner’s off-the-runway style has caught our attention time and time again, but certain outfits remain favorites. Some are cool takes on everyday basics; others are eye-catching red carpet ensembles, but we consider all of these some of her best. She may be just 21, but Kendall has clearly set herself apart as a trendsetter in the fashion industry. So which outfits of Kendall’s made the cut?

Say hello to the cross-seasonal piece of your dreams. A floor-sweeping skirt is elegant, comfortable and versatile. When it’s warm, pair it with a flouncy tank and sandals, and as temps drop, try adding a chunky sweater and ankle boots. To avoid looking like you were too lazy to swap your wardrobe out with the season, stick to solid neutrals or prints like dark florals that look appropriate during all 12 months.

Whether or not you work in a business-professional office, a pencil skirt is a total wardrobe staple. The beauty of this style is that it can look corporate (but still stylish) with a blazer and pumps, but it can also give off cool and dressed-down vibes with a half-tucked T-shirt and sneakers. Something to keep in mind: Pencil skirts are notoriously hard to wear off-the-rack, so this is one piece it’s definitely worth taking to the tailor for the perfect fit.

When it comes to clothing that’s almost universally flattering, midi skirts are basically the Holy Grail. This style should be fitted at the waist and swingy through the hips (to show off your slimmest part while keeping your lower half comfortable). Then lengthen your legs with a hemline that hits midway down your calf.

On the flip side, a dressy skirt is a kind of luxe alternative for occasions that require a little more pizzazz. Look for something with glam details (love you forever, pink sequins), and then pair it with a sleek tank to keep the focus all on the skirt. That said, you could also go all out with a statement-making top (we’re very into ruffles right now) in a similar color story to give the illusion of a dress.

Jeans and a T-shirt will forever be one of our go-to looks, but sometimes we want to switch things up a little. In those cases, a simple cotton A-line skirt that hits just above the knee should do the trick. It’s less expected than jeans, but similarly comfortable and effortless (and a lot cooler on hot summer days). A win-win.
